Headteacher's Welcome

 Hello,

My name is Charlotte Blake, as Headteacher of Wittering Primary School, it is a pleasure to welcome you to our school. Wittering is a very special place. The children and adults I work alongside are a constant inspiration and it is a privilege to learn alongside them.

Each day is different, and I never tire of watching our pupils grow in confidence and support each other. There is a great energy across school which comes from children and adults alike, based upon a shared view that learning together is an adventure, an ethos that is fostered by adults across school who are dedicated to fostering every young person in their care, and understand that the best way to learn is through creativity and enjoyment, enabling our vision of everyone to 'Try Hard, Be Kind, Fly High'.

An Ofsted inspector once spoke of the 'Wittering Effect', this described the open and friendly approach of children and staff, where every person who enters our school is welcomed with open arms, ready to flourish and grow in a nurturing environment. We are used to children joining us at different points in their educational career, whether that is the start of Reception or at other points as they progress through their primary journey.

If you were to look around our school during the day you would see pupils who are polite, hardworking and well-behaved, who also have an enormous sense of fun. You would also feel a sense of wellbeing and togetherness amongst everyone in the building and, most importantly, you would see smiles.

We pride ourselves on the complete care our school is able to offer. We run our own Chill Club, before and after school care; we produce our own school meals and our Families Centre provides support within the community, including Baby Massage and Stay and Play groups. Whilst we are based in Wittering village, we try to work closely with the RAF base as they have much to offer all of the pupils that attend our school.

We value highly our partnerships with parents and carers and understand the shared role that we have in supporting children to achieve, truly flourish and be an inspiration to others. Our parents can see that each child is recognised as an individual and their journey with us is bespoke to their uniqueness. As a parent myself I understand the importance for home and school to have a shared view of a child's learning experience and we welcome parental insight in how we can continue to grow and develop our school.

We are proud to be a founding school of the Soke Education Trust Academy chain and have a shared vision for excellence in the provision for our learners, high aspirations for all children and a collaborative approach to drive improvement.

Wittering Primary School is on an exciting journey and I welcome you all to join us!

We would also love to meet you so that you can see our school for yourself. Tours with myself can be booked on 01780 782336 or by emailing office@wittering.peterborough.sch.uk. We look forward to seeing you.

“Our school is simply excellent, we are so pleased to be settled in Wittering. We’d never move anywhere else while the children are at school.”
